About the release
Only 20 limited 9 x 12” prints have been made of “Art and Science”, each hand signed, numbered and printed on Canson Photographic papers with archival pigments. The picture was captured in Valencia, Spain in the City of Arts and Sciences. Designed by Santiago Calatrava and one of the 12 treasures of Spain, the controversial development cost more than 3 times the initial allocated budget impacting at the height of the world economic crisis. This picture is part of the Hasselblad Masters Vol 6 Innovate release. Each print comes with a signed copy of the Hasselblad Masters Vol. 6: Innovate.
About the Hasselblad Masters 2018
The Hasselblad Masters is biennial and one of the world’s most prestigious professional photographic competitions, giving acclaimed professionals, as well as aspiring newcomers, the chance to make their mark in the world of photography.
Photographers around the world were invited to submit three images that best demonstrate their photographic ability for the chance to be named a Hasselblad Master. The Hasselblad Masters 2018 competition featured 11 categories and received a record-breaking 31,500 entries. The number of participating photographers has seen an increase of 175% this year compared to the Hasselblad Masters 2016.
Hasselblad Masters Volume 6: Innovate
Hasselblad Masters Volume 6: Innovate is an artistic testament to the winners of the 2018 Hasselblad Masters competition, showcasing each photographer’s passion and individual creativity in striking full-page format.
Upon receiving the prestigious Hasselblad Master title, the winners were assigned a challenge to create images in their respective expertise with Hasselblad medium format cameras.
Connected by the unifying theme of "innovate", the stunning results include sublime pastel landscapes of the Southwestern United States, fine art scenes set against stark Slovak architecture, poetic Scandinavian portraits, and more.
Among the pages of impressive photos are passages from each photographer reflecting on their experience with the project, along with their biography, inspirations, and impressions on becoming a Hasselblad Master.
